Review of Steinhausen Dunn Horitzon Leather Band Watch-Silver

Requested & received the gold color version of this watch from my wife for Christmas. I am not sure where she purchased it because it was a present. I saw the add for it in a periodical where I was attracted to the seemingly impossible 2mm thin case. In the add, a picture of it shown face to back between thumb & finger illustrated a thin profile because it was held near an edge which would conceal the protruding portion in the back of my watch which is about 1/2 the diameter of the case. Bottom line, I measured with calipers about 6.5mm thick front to back in the center (includes protrusion) and tapering to about 4.7mm front to back at the edge of the watch. If I had known the true dimensions I would not have asked for it. It does seem to keep time so far, I like the face, and the appearance is of good quality but the 2mm dimension advertised is nowhere to be found except it is about the height of the protrusion (6.5mm-4.7mm)on the backside. Even the band is almost 3mm thick.
You may want to see one of these in person before you buy...

  • Dunn Horitzon is German for "Thin Horizon." "Rasierer" refers to being razor-thin. At less than two millimeters thick, you can't buy a slimmer model that includes a two-digit calendar and DOES NOT increase thickness. The Steinhausen engineers set out to make the most beautiful, light and the thin watch. After five grueling years of constant research, development and testing, they introduced the Dunn Horitzon Rasierer, and it immediately brought raves from everywhere in the watchmaking world. The Europeans lauded it for its sophistication and aesthetic look and design -- it was one of the top attractions at the Basel Convention for watches and clocks in Switzerland (the most important annual clock and watch show worldwide for the past 34 years). Italian art schools are using the Dunn Horitzon Rasierer as an example of the perfect design model. The Japanese heaped praise for its quality and sophisticated design. And the American consumer paid the ultimate compliment by buying it - the Dunn Horitzon Rasierer is one of our top-selling timepieces.

The Dunn Horitzon Rasierer is made from stainless steel.
