Review of Timex Men's Ironman Triathlon Solar Dual-Tech Watch #T5G681

The Timex Ironman Thriathlon Solar Dual-Tech watch is a good ana-digi solar watch.

I bought it from Pro Sport Watches through Amazon.com and the first watch I received went bad after about a month when the mode button stopped working. Upon receiving my email inquiry they immediately shipped the replacement unit and a return envelope with no questions asked even though it was either on the verge or maybe even over the 30 day return period. If this review was only about my experience shopping with Pro Sport Watches and dealing with their service and support, I'd give them the highest rating.

I also own the ultimate Casio Protrek triple sensor analog-digital watch which is a class (and unfortunately two sizes of thickness and diameter) above this one and many other far more expensive watches, so I'm a bit biased as I was comparing this model to the features of the one about triple the price.

Pros:
- Nice combination of analog and digital features (besides solar technology, this is a must have for my watches)
- Really sophisticated attractive combination of black screen and "bright" numbers, but more about brightness under cons
- Solar charging
- Accurate
- Good combination (better than Protrack) of stop watch and count-down timers and alarms.
- Three different times to set on the digital clock, easily changed by the single or two sequential pressings of the lower start/split button.
- Digital screen can be toggled on and off by holding the stop/reset button for 3 seconds so you have a choice of a simple and sophisticated vs technical gadget look.
- Reasonably priced considering the features (although I would have thought twice had it not been on sale).
- Great intuitive Timex menus (in comparison I find Casios a bit cryptic)

Cons:
- The digital dial is rather dim and far from being bright as on the picture
- Either the seconds markings or the seconds hand movement is inaccurate, so you have a feeling that the dial and the seconds hand are a bit misaligned, just enough to make you wonder if everything is OK.This was the case on both the defective watch and the replacement unit, so I suppose this is a design flaw.
- The watch itself has so many colors and letters it almost looks like a Timex billboard. The least appreciated is the word SOLAR placed above the 9 o'clock position of the dial. Besides this one there are big capital letters SOLAR at the bottom of the bezel, so I really don't understand why they had to put the same thing over the dial and lower the efficiency of the solar cell and visibility of the dial.
- Another negative for color on my scorecard is the bracelet, which is grey plastic and even if it's quality design and seems sturdy, I'd prefer it were black just like the watch. This way it makes the watch lack sophistication and it looks a bit like a toy.

Summary: Although a bit sophomoric design, the good combination of analog-digital features, solar technology and reasonable pricing when on sale got this watch onto my wishlist.
